Stories and images
by Jim Waldron
I did it. Upon arriving in Stockholm I have completed a one year, round the world journey. With three months to go on my current plan, I'm glad to be back in a place where I have friends with nice apartments and jobs where they can buy me drinks.

Stockholm, Around town design
High-tech and well designed inside and out it's fun to look at Stockholm, especially when you are used to simple cement or bamboo structures and open sewer of Asia. Everything seems smooth, clean and thought-about.

ShellStairs - stairs throughout the city have this layout and symmetry
StairUp
FridgeGrate - simple patterns and asymmetry look great here
YellowWall - warm colors cover the walls throughout Stockholm
MuseumChairs - patterns
Chairs4 - simple forms in Carolines apartment

busChairs - electric patterns and empty space
Balloon - abstract of helium balloon
Bed - in fading light
Wall abstract - with bed rail and colors
Chair and Shapes - great colors and textures
Profile - of my landlady for three weeks Caroline
Lamp - in downtown restaurant
Lustrum - interesting sign
SubwayPoster - empty platform
Iron - looks like a spaceship
Geeks - wired socializing as two geeks exchange info over coffee
Rails - around a staircase
Desk - travel is glamorous
MuseumWoman  - in the new Museum of Modern Art
DeadATM
flags
TomJonesStage - It's not unusual. Tom Jones at the Water Festival
TomJonesFans - equally mixed between over forty and under twenty-five years old

Vaxholm, halfway out in the Archpeligo
Stockholm is a major port in the country, and just to the east of the city is the vast Archipeligo. Twenty-thousand little rock islands and twice as many summer cottages dot this coastline. On a brief trip with some friends I still found myself mostly attracted to the smooth lines and bright colors of the houses and boats.

Stockholm, Dinner with Jan's Family
For a dose of alternative reality my friend Skinny Dave and myself accepted a gracious invitation by Jan Sundberg of dinner at his house south of Stockholm. What a great feeling to be at a home, with furniture, family, and food. Given my career choices and round-the-world traveling, this is the reality I was most expected to fulfill and the one I'm now most likely to never have. Thanks Jan for the insight to the other path.

Family  - and Dave
WifenMe - such a lovely chin I've grown
Daughter  - out back in red
KidnMeL  - an excellent houseguest
HypnoRabbit - it's true, I can hypnotize a rabbit
HypnoRabbit2  - it's true, I can hypnotize a rabbit. It's done

Neglinge, Sailing
Why does sailing still make me nervous? And afternoon sailing with Nina and Dave. Also my first day of not smoking. Timing?

SailAb2  - The sail against the busy sky abstract
NinaViking  - Funny how a girl gets when she pilots a boat
NinaAtHelm  - our guide to the Archipeligo
Squall - surprise! The weather changes here in Sweden
Nina Dave  - happy on the way out
Nina Smile
meAtHelm - don't be fooled. I sweating bullets
NinaRain  - our captain in the squall
JimQuit - smoking kills you right?

Stockholm, night out in Stureplan
Finding myself without primitive cultures to explore here in Sweden, I took the liberty of  following some clubgoers to a few spots around the central core of the city.

Nightface - handsome flirting early on
Girls at Bar - red-eyed girls in black with booze
Arms entwined - low lights and flesh
Backstraps and cigarettes - lower lights and muted sexuality
Foreheads and transparent shirts - crowds expand
Bodies - lust or appreciation?
Desparation - my standard feeling at a club
